    Application Deadline: 10 June 2016

HIV Research for Prevention (HIVR4P 2016) will provide fellowships to attend and cover the conference to approximately 25 journalists from around the world. The journalist fellowship program is designed to help build journalist capacity to report on biomedical HIV prevention, and to generate high-profile media coverage of advances and challenges in prevention research, especially in communities that are heavily impacted by the epidemic.

As part of the fellowship, journalists will participate in a two-day, onsite workshop with leaders in various fields of biomedical prevention research, designed to help them better understand and report on research developments from the conference.

    • HIVR4P journalist fellows will receive conference registration, transportation to and from Chicago, accommodation, most meals, and a per diem.
    • This opportunity is highly selective. Successful journalist fellow candidates will have a track record of high-quality reporting on HIV/AIDS issues, the support of their media outlet to attend and report on the conference, and strong English language skills.
    Application Requirements:
    • All applicants are required to submit a brief letter of intent, CV, editor recommendation, samples of published work relating to HIV/AIDS and other details.
    • Accepted fellows must commit to be in Chicago from 16 October, when the training program begins, through the conclusion of the conference on 21 October, 2016.
    • 10 June 2016 Journalist Fellowship Application Period Ends
    • 27 June 2016 Journalist Fellowship Disposition Notices Sent
    • 11 July 2016 Deadline for Journalist Fellows to Register
