List of important baby things in Nigeria you must get

We will expatiate on the important baby things you need:

Baby clothing

The first thing you need are some clothing for your baby. You should plan this ahead even if you are on a shoe string budget.

You should start with at least 6 onesies, three to four infant gowns or top-and-pant combos, three to four stretch suits (those overall one-piece sleepers that zip from down to top).

You can even add up three to four pairs of socks, two pairs of baby shoes, a sweater, a cap, and three receiving blankets or shawls for swaddling the baby. Of course, if you can afford more of these, you should buy more.

Baby diapers

Gone are the days when people use washable diapers and napkins, but this days, you can get disposable diaper and this is a rave among nursing mothers now.

For the first few weeks after birth, your baby would use between 4 and 6 diapers a day. That means you should expect to exhaust at least 120 diapers in the first month.

If that seems too expensive for you, you can consider using washable nappies at times. Allowing diapers to remain on your baby for too long in order to cut cost is a bad idea that could expose your baby to skin infections, urinary tract infections, and other health problems.

Baby bath accessories

Your baby deserves all the comfort and thus you need a baby bath to contain your loved one properly and while you can improvise with a very big bowl made of plastic, you can also get one made specifically as a baby tub

You will also need bath towels, washcloths, brush and comb, baby sponge, baby soap, and so on, this will be exclusive to your child alone..

Feeding accessories

How much accessories you’ll need to feed you baby with depends on your decision to breastfeed your baby or not.

Even if you plan to breastfeed your baby, you’d still need bre*st pumps, feeding bottles or cups and spoons, burp cloths and bibs, bottle brush, milk storage containers, nursing pillows, nursing bras, and br**st pads.

If you’re going to formula-feed your baby, you’d need additional accessories such as measuring cups and formula.

Baby cot/bed

Unless you plan to create space for your baby on the family bed, you’d need to buy a baby cot and mattress.

If you’re lucky to have a baby who doesn’t call for attention too often, then you’d be fine with a cot for a couple of months.

But if your baby cries a lot and requires attention all the time, then you’d have to place his/her mattress right on your bed, since you won’t find it easy shuttling frequently to and from the cot, especially when you’re in bed. You’ll also need to buy light blankets and cribsheets.

Baby carrier

As its name implies, a baby carrier is used to carry babies with ease. Baby carriers come in different shapes and designs, but the basic concept allows you to strap your baby to your chest while you move around. If you’ve never seen a baby carrier before now, just imagine a backpack worn on the belly rather than on the back. It has openings for the baby’s limbs, and some have compartments for baby items.

Baby car seat

Also called a car booster seat, this accessory is a must-have if you drive your own car and would have to carry your baby with you while driving.

Baby car seats are made with babies’ comfort in mind, so they’re well-padded to provide comfort and protection to your baby while your car moves over both smooth and rough terrains.

Baby wardrobe

This is another must-have for you as a nursing mother. Although you most probably have your own wardrobe where you keep your things, you need to buy one for keeping your baby’s clothes, diapers, food, and other things.

Baby wardrobes come in various designs and sizes. And while they are mostly made of plastic, they can be made from other materials such as wood, aluminum, etc.
